First PTO meeting
Now is the time to begin our process to establish our PTO. As you know the school has not have a PTO for some time, it is time to have one! Our first meeting to begin this process is going to be next week Tuesday October 24th at 7:00. EVERYONE is invited. Please make your voice heard and participate in the parent school association.
Today you are receiving your student report cards. Please take time to review it with your students. Please remember that report cards are not final trimester grades but just an opportunity to pause in the middle of the grading period to measure our successes and challenges. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your teacher. This is the time to improve. I highly recommend you to also take some time to celebrate your child's successes. Positive reinforcement goes a long way!
Missionary Childhood Association (MCA)
Tomorrow, October 18th, our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are attending the Missionary Childhood Association Mass at LA Cathedral. I want to thank the Association that provided the Bus transportation for free to our students. We are always praying for the missions all over the world.
Respect Life Week
RLW is a joint project of the Department of Catholic Schools and the Office of Life, Justice and Peace. RLW 2017 looks at the current issues of forgiveness, healing after abortion, human trafficking, mental health (depression, addiction, suicide), and adoption through the lens of our Catholic faith.
Students at St. Catherine of Siena are going to work, at a grade-appropriate level, to understand why we believe what we do and what we can do to build a Culture of Life right here in LA. Through curriculum, prayer, special projects, and service, students grades K-8 will reflect on the infinite love of Christ for each and every person.
RLW culminates in the field-trip day Christian Service 4LIFE, this year on October 25th at the Galen Center at USC.Our Jr. High students are going to participate on a fun, interactive day with Archbishop Gomez, service opportunities, benediction, and a few surprise celebrities.
This field trip was fully donated to our school by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Carnival service hours
Each family must present evidence that they served at least 15 hours during the carnival. Some of the families didn’t and they will be charged at $15 per hour not served. However, there are still some hours available to serve for the Carnival. We need some volunteer to clean-up the grills, the kitchen and the pantry. If you are available please let Lorna know so you can finish your service hours.
If you have Carnival pictures, please share at the school facebook page: St. Catherine of Siena-Reseda, please help us promote our school with positive reviews and posts.
