Hello Dear Saints Families and Friends,

In this occasion, I want to ask you to please allow me a minute to talk from the bottom of my heart. I must speak about immigration.

I love America! I love my country! The United States has given me a beautiful place to raise my children, to see them grow up in an atmosphere of peace, to see them study and dream. I have seen my husband succeed in his career and serve as a deacon for our Catholic Church in this amazing and challenging Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I have been able to live the dream of my life becoming the principal of the beautiful St. Catherine of Siena School. But today I am ashamed. How did we get to this situation? Why are we separating families? Why are we arresting people in cages? Is this really necessary?

I must make myself absolutely clear, this is not a political comment. This is a pro-life comment. I am pro-life. God creates life from the womb to the natural end of their life. Immigrant men, women and children are also children of God, just as you and I. It is our Catholic duty to protect life. Any life, all the time, anywhere, under any circumstance.

Please pray for those families, for those children. They are all our children.

Finally, I am going to leave you with today's tweet from Pope Francis and some Bible quotes:

Pope Francis: A person's dignity does not depend on them being a citizen, a migrant, or a refugee. Saving the life of someone fleeing war and poverty is an act of humanity.

Leviticus 19:33-34 and 24:22 – When the alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

Deuteronomy 6:10-13 – The people of Israel are made aware that the land had come to them as a gift from God and they were to remember that they were once aliens.

Matthew 25:31-46 – “…I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

Hebrews 13:1-2 – “…show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels…”
