Dear Saints:

I hope this letter finds you in good physical, emotional and spiritual health.

We are living an unprecedented moment in history. I know that so many weeks of quarantine are very difficult for families with children. Boredom and routine are daily enemies to overcome. I want to tell you that I have deep respect for you parents who have maintained a positive spirit in your homes in these times of crisis. May God continue to fill you with his light and his Holy Spirit so that you can keep peace and joy in your homes!

Today we resume our online classes. I thank the parents who filled out the survey about our online program as their positive feedback encourages us to move forward and their suggestions help us make changes to improve our work.

To this day we do not have a date when we will return to school. Our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Paul Escala, has not given us a date to return. However, the mayor of the city of Los Angeles said that by May 15 the process of reopening the city would begin. We do not know exactly what this means, but it is clear that the city will open in stages and until now we do not know in which of them classes will resume. I would like classes to resume as soon as possible, but the health of children and teachers is the most important. Until today the effort that we have all made to stay at home is giving results and lives have been saved since we have not exceeded the hospital system. I thank you for your understanding and support.

Today I want to ask everyone to please help us by pre-registering for the 2020-2021 school year. We need to know how many students we have for next year to have their books, documentation, and teacher assignments ready. I understand that the current economic situation is difficult, but we know that it will not stay like this. We are a family and we are going to look for supports and help so that we can all continue being part of the school of Santa Catalina de Siena.

To pre-register all you need to do is go to the school site: and register by following the blue button. You don't need to pay the registration now. The registration fee will be $ 500 until May 15 and will then return to its original price of $ 680. If your family is going through any special situation due to the COVID-19, please feel free to speak to me or email me. We will find a way to help you!

Finally, I want to tell you that we are at Easter, the time of the year in which we celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is only with the power and help of Our Lord Jesus Christ Risen that we will be able to move forward in this time of crisis, having the confidence that we are safer at home.

May God take care of you and bless you!

Mrs. Rivas
