Welcome to this 2020-2021 school year! It is, to say the least, the strangest of all the school cycles that I have lived through in the 27 years that I have been a teacher. However, we want it to be a memorable year, not because of the pandemic or the fires, but because of the theme of our year which is LOVE.
Love can do everything, conquers everything, heals everything. I understand that this year is full of suffering due to COVID-19, the economic loss, the quarantine, etc. I want to offer you parents and children the opportunity to see beyond all these problems that surround us and concentrate on the LOVE of God the Almighty Father who sent us his only Son Jesus to teach us to love.
The biblical quote in which we will be inspired this year is 1 Corinthians 13, 4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
Each of the teachers has chosen one of the characteristics of love as a guide for their work this year:
Love is Patient = Ms. Miranda
Love is Kind = Mr. Flores
Love is Humble = Mrs. Taylor
Love is True = Mr. Louise
Love is Generous = Ms. Cruz
Love Hopes = Ms. Parra
Love Endures = Sister Richadlyn
Love Believes = Mrs. Rivas
Love Protects = Mr. Palacios
Love Trust = Mrs. Lieb
Love Perseveres = Ms. Ignacio
I hope that this year we are filled with a lot of love, that we learn what true love is, the one that made Christ give his life on the cross for us. HURRAY FOR LOVE!
