Last week we sent the information about Halloween costumes. If you want to review the regulations, please visit our school website at the home section:
Students with costumes that don’t follow the rules are going to be sent home to change.
It has been a tradition at SCS that parents participate at Trunk-or-Treat. Please join us again this year decorating your car and giving candy to our students. Please sign-in at the office. ‘Treat cars’ need to be at school at 10:30 am on Halloween day. You will get one service hour for your time and up to $20 of candy expenses can be used for your fundraising money with your receipts.
There is no school on November 1st in observance of “All Saints Day”. It is a Solemn Holy Day of Obligation, meaning all Catholics are required to attend Mass.
All Souls Day is the holy day set aside honoring the dead. As Catholics we believe that through the prayers of the faithful on Earth, the dead are cleansed of their sins, so they may enter to heaven.
In Mexico, All Souls Day or “Día de Muertos” is celebrated with altars in honor of our love ones that have passed away.
We are going to build an “Altar de Muertos” at school. If you want to participate you can bring a picture of your love one(s) or/and any other of the typical elements for the altar. If you have any questions, please come to the office to talk to Mrs. Rivas.
We are going to have a Theater Fundraising at Panera in Encino. Thursday 11/9 from 4 pm to 8 pm please bring your flyer and support our Theater program.
$25 Late Tuition Fee
Today is the last day to pay and avoid the $25-dollar fee, as it has been announced on past SCS news. Beginning on OCTOBER 30th, 2017 according to the student-parent hand book: “A $25-dollar fee is going to be charged on the 30th of each month to ALL the families that are late on their tuition. There are not going to be exceptions to this rule.”
Thank you for attending our initial PTO meeting. As it was established at the meeting, this is the week to nominate your candidates to be officers. You can nominate yourself and/or current school parents to be part of the PTO board. Only one parent from each family can be nominated. There is a form in today’s family envelope to write the names of your nominees. Nominations papers are going to be accepted from today to November 6th at 8:00am. Together we can improve our school! Join us!
School sweaters and jackets
As we begin the fall season students come to school with their sweaters and jackets. Teachers make a big effort in teaching the students to save their sweaters inside their backpacks but sometimes children make mistakes. To help your child please mark your child’s sweater inside with big clear letters We recommend a silver sharpie. We have a couple of sharpies to borrow at the office. Embroidering your child’s name or initials is also a good idea. Please, if you get the wrong sweater at home be honest and return it to school. Thank you!
School picture day is Nov. 13th This picture is going to be taken in complete mass uniform. The spring pictures are going to be taken with free dress.
