Catholic education is a challenge. We live in a world where selfishness and hate are a common thing in life. Our students are not perfect but, the difference from other school systems is that we are working together, you at home and we at school, to make students realize that life is about making good choices and we are teaching them the difference between good and bad choices.
I want to tell you a small story that happened at school last week. It warmed my heart and make me be grateful for having the opportunity to teach your children.
At lunch time two girls came to the office because one of them had lost a tooth. She actually lost it! It fell from her mouth to the ground and she couldn’t find it. The girls wanted a tooth detector, like in the movies, to find the tooth. We explained to them that such a device didn’t exist but to go back and keep looking, several students joined to help. Ms. Parra decided to lead the efforts. Suddenly half of the school joined the efforts of looking for the missing tooth. They spent the whole lunch time, but they found the tooth. They all celebrated!
This is the beauty of Catholic Education, when we all come together to rescue the one in need no matter how big or how small the need is. When we are a team. When we are a family.
We are not perfect, but we are walking the path to become Saints.
